Prepare for Your Donation

Eligibility Requirements

All blood types welcome!

Donors must:

  • be feeling well and pass our medical exam

  • be between the ages of 18 and 65

  • weigh between 110 and 400 lbs

  • live near their B Positive Plasma center — within 50 miles of the donation center*

  • possess the proper documents listed in the “Remember to Bring” checklist

*Recovered COVID-19 donors do not need to live within the 50-mile donor radius.

                    Remember to Bring

                    • Unexpired Photo ID

                    • Proof of Social Security Number

                    • Proof of Current Address - if it is not listed on your Photo ID

                    COVID19 Convalescent Plasma Donors must also bring ONE of the following:

                    Documentation that you confirmed positive for a COVID-19 viral infection OR
                    Documentation that you received a confirmed positive antibody test for COVID-19

                    We cannot accept copies of photo ID -  see the FAQs for full details. 


                    Prepare to Donate

                    • Stay Hydrated: Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. Avoid alcohol and caffeine prior to donating.

                    • Eat Healthy Meals: Eat a well-balanced diet high in protein and iron. Avoid fried, greasy and fatty foods.*
                      Donors must eat at least 200 calories and drink at least 8 oz of water prior to every donation. 

                    • Delay Smoking: Avoid smoking for 30 minutes before and after donating.

                    • Stay Home When Sick: You must be feeling well and healthy to donate.

                    • Rest Up: You must remain awake and alert during your donation. Get a good night’s sleep.

                    *Donors will not be compensated for fatty donations of plasma.
